Sri Lanka is made for families, and this 13-day adventure is built around the moments kids remember for life. Feed and watch elephants at the Pinnawala orphanage, ride one of the world’s most scenic trains through the tea hills, cheer at a Kandyan dance show, and meet baby elephants and sea turtles up close. Explore ancient cities and golden cave temples at an easy pace with the big Sigiriya climb kept optional before settling into a relaxed beach finish on the south coast, with colonial Galle nearby. Comfortable family rooms, a flexible schedule, and a private guide who’s great with children make this a stress-free way to show your family the very best of the island.

This is an all-inclusive private family tour — airport transfers, an early check-in on arrival, a private air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking chauffeur guide, family-room accommodation with the listed meal plans, scenic train tickets, entrance tickets to all attractions, all mentioned activity costs, UNESCO-site guides, daily water, and government taxes. Flights, visa, the optional Sigiriya climb, optional excursions, and meals not listed are extra.
Yes — it’s designed with families in mind. The pace is gentle, accommodation is in family rooms, and the highlights (elephant orphanage, baby-elephant feeding, sea-turtle hatchery, the train, dance shows, and beaches) are all child-friendly. The strenuous Sigiriya climb is kept optional, so there’s no obligatory big hike.
The Nanu Oya–Ella ride is one of the most beautiful (and most fun) parts of the trip for children. Seats are included, but first-class allocation is very limited and sells out quickly, so we book as early as possible — availability can’t be guaranteed.
Absolutely. It’s a private tour, so timings, rest days, and activities can be tailored to your children’s ages and energy levels. Your guide will adapt the days as you go.
Between Pinnawala, the Udawalawe safari, and the Elephant Transit Home, your family is almost certain to see elephants — though wild sightings on safari can never be fully guaranteed.
It works year-round across several climate zones, with the southern beach finish at its best from roughly November to April.
