Follow Sri Lanka’s essential Ramayana Trail on a carefully planned six-day pilgrimage combining sacred Hindu temples, mist-covered tea country and selected cultural experiences. Begin with Munneswaram and Manavari near Chilaw, continue to Kandy, then journey into the central highlands through Ramboda — traditionally linked to Hanuman’s arrival in Lanka. Spend two nights in Nuwara Eliya visiting Seetha Amman Temple, Ashok Vatika, Gayathri Peedam and Divurumpola, before Ravana Falls and a final night in Colombo. Suitable for Indian families, senior pilgrims, couples, first-time visitors and private spiritual groups.
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport, meet your Peacock Lanka Travels representative, and transfer to Negombo or Chilaw for a restful first night. A short introductory visit may be arranged depending on your arrival time.
Important note: Arrival-day temple visits depend on flight-arrival time, traffic, temple hours and available daylight.
Begin the pilgrimage with two temples traditionally connected to Lord Rama. Visit Munneswaram, where tradition holds Rama worshipped Lord Shiva after the battle with Ravana, then Manavari, associated with the Shiva Lingam installed by Rama. Later travel through the countryside to Kandy.
Important note: Temple programmes depend on religious schedules. Modest clothing required; shoes removed before shrines; photography may be restricted.

Visit Kandy's sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, then travel into the central highlands. Stop at Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple in Ramboda, traditionally linked to Hanuman's search for Sita, before tea-covered mountains, Ramboda Falls and a working tea plantation and factory.
Important note: The Temple of the Tooth can be crowded during ceremonial periods and Buddhist holidays.

Explore the principal Ramayana sites around Nuwara Eliya. Visit Seetha Amman Temple at Sita Eliya, traditionally associated with Sita's stay in Lanka, continue towards Hakgala (linked with Ashok Vatika), then visit Gayathri Peedam and Divurumpola, associated with Sita's trial by fire.
Important note: Hakgala Botanical Garden involves walking and is optional. Pilgrims with limited mobility may enjoy an exterior interpretation and scenic drive instead.

Travel towards Ella to visit Ravana Falls, traditionally connected with King Ravana, then continue to Colombo. A longer travel day, with sightseeing limited to suitable stops.
Important note: Ravana Cave is not included in this short programme as it requires additional time and uneven walking and climbing.

Enjoy a final Colombo experience before your airport transfer.
