This 14-day sea turtle volunteering program in Sri Lanka is designed for travelers who want to enjoy a meaningful stay by the coast while actively supporting marine conservation. Based in the Ahungalla and area, this program gives you the chance to take part in turtle care, hatchery support, and environmental protection work while enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
Unlike a fast-moving round tour, this experience is centered around one base location. That means you can settle into the program, become familiar with the local team, and spend more time contributing in a practical and rewarding way. You will help support the daily work of the turtle conservation center, learn about endangered sea turtle species, and understand the challenges they face from pollution, fishing activity, and habitat loss.
During your stay, you will also have free time to relax at the beach and join optional trips to places such as Galle, Bentota, Hikkaduwa, Mirissa, and other nearby destinations. This makes the program ideal for solo travelers, students, couples, gap-year travelers, and anyone looking for a more meaningful way to experience Sri Lanka.
