Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the price?

This is an all-inclusive private tour — airport transfers, a private air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking chauffeur guide, accommodation with the listed meal plans, entrance tickets to all attractions, all mentioned activity costs, UNESCO-site guides, daily water, and government taxes. Optional excursions and meals not listed are extra.

What is the village and farm immersion like?

On Day 6 you spend a full day with a hill-country farming family — cooking traditional dishes with garden produce, touring a working tea factory, joining everyday farm activities, and sharing a home-cooked meal and stories. It’s a warm, authentic window into rural Sri Lankan life, and a highlight of the trip.

Is the scenic train ride guaranteed?

The train from Nanu Oya to Ella is included, but first-class seats are very limited and sell out fast. We book as early as possible, though availability can’t be guaranteed.

How demanding is the Sigiriya climb?

About 1,200 steps and 1.5–2 hours round trip — moderate but manageable for most reasonably fit travellers. We climb early to avoid the heat and crowds.

Will we see elephants at Udawalawe?

Udawalawe is famous for its large elephant herds, so sightings are very likely — though, as with all wildlife, never guaranteed. You’ll also visit the Elephant Transit Home, where rescued calves are fed.

What's the best time of year for this tour?

It works year-round across several climate zones, with the southern coast at its best from roughly November to April.
