Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see Sigiriya without climbing it?

Yes, and that’s how this tour is built. You explore the lower royal water gardens at ground level with full historical interpretation from your guide, and the rock itself is the backdrop. Nobody is expected to attempt the stairways.

Are the lower gardens genuinely flat?

Mostly, but some paths are uneven and a few surfaces are old stone. We choose the exact route on the day based on your mobility and, if you use one, your wheelchair type.

Day 6 looks like a long drive. Is it manageable?

It’s the longest day at roughly six hours with breaks. We use a vehicle with proper legroom, schedule several comfort and restroom stops, and keep the afternoon in Galle completely free for rest.

How much walking is there in Galle Fort?

As little as you want. Much of the fort can be seen from the vehicle, and we then pick one manageable level section on foot. The paving is historic and there are kerbs, so the route is chosen for you rather than fixed.

Is eight days too many hotel changes?

There are six regions in eight days, which is the busiest pattern we offer in this series. If repeated packing is tiring, look at the 12-day or 14-day itineraries, which use two- and three-night stays throughout.
